On the comeback trail
Posted: 24th April 2012
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the absence, it’s been a while since I updated the website. It’s also been a while since I played golf.
I’ve been out of action since November because of a persistent wrist injury. I couldn’t pick up a club until March, which is the longest I’ve ever been without playing since I was about six or seven years old.
It’s been frustrating not being able to play. It’s obviously not ideal, but it’s one of those things you have to accept. I’ve spent most of the winter in Dubai, training and getting fit, with the aim of returning as soon as possible.
Improving the wrist has involved mostly rest and strengthening work on my arms and shoulders, which should provide... MORE »
Soggy In Scotland
Posted: 9th July 2011
Hi Everyone, must apologise for the lack of blogs recently but I've been concentrating hard on my game and haven't really had much to write about so far this year.
My game is so very nearly where I'd like it to be but of late I've been in that most frustating of positions where I've missed a good few cuts by just one shot. I played well in Germany at the BMW International Open where I finished 31st - a particular highlight was finishing 4th in the overall putts for the week which is encouraging for the upcoming events.
I'm currently at the Barclays Scottish Open at Castle Stuart near Inverness where the weather been nothing short of atrocious, sitting on three under par and fighting... MORE »
Determination for 2011
Posted: 13th December 2010
Greetings from Dubai which is currently bathed in sunshine and blue skies – a great place to be at this time of year when it’s cold in the UK – no temporary greens here!
Since my final event in Singapore I’ve been here trying to sort out my shoulder problem which really made the 2010 season one I’d like to forget.
I’ve been working out in the gym regularly and have also been having plenty of physio which is making it stronger and more flexible. I’ve even been practising and playing quite a bit and it is definitely feeling much better than it has done for the past few months.

Four Weeks Off
Posted: 6th September 2010
Hi everyone, just letting you all know that I'm taking four weeks off now! With the magical help of Cornel I was able to play in Switzerland last week but I did really start to feel my shoulder injury again on the Saturday, although it had felt really good on Thursday and Friday. I played really well on the Thursday and to be honest was a bit unlucky not to shoot less than three under par. But I've now made the decision to rest it for a full four weeks and prepare myself well for the remaining events (starting with the Alfred Dunhill) and the onslaught for the Race to Dubai.
I'm off to America today and am going back to my... MORE »
Gutted

As I write this I’m in London which isn’t where I expected to be today. Due to my nerve injury in my shoulder I’ve had to pull out of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and along with that say goodbye to my opportunity of claiming a spot in the Ryder Cup team for Celtic Manor.
I’ve played with the injury for the last 5 or 6 weeks purely in an endeavour to get into the team and along with the pain it has also been mentally very draining.
I’m absolutely gutted at not making the team but having been hampered by various injuries for most of the season it hasn’t been an easy task for me. Hopefully though I’ll make the... MORE »
Well Done Louis

The Open Championship at St Andrews was a disappointing week for me. I was relly pleased with my first round score but on Friday the weather got the better of me, my putter wasn't too happy in the wind and that was the end of the Championship for me.
Louis Oosthuizen, on the other hand, had the best week of his career winning the Claret Jug, and then following that with a top five in Sweden - so congratulations to him. I first met Louis in South Africa when I had just turned pro and played on the Sunshine Tour five years ago - in fact he beat me down the stretch in my first tournament there. He's a great front-runner... MORE »

Well, since my last blog I played in the US Open at Pebble Beach and finished in a tie for 40th. Compared to the last US Open I played at Torrey Pines I thought that the whole event was three or four times better, the atmosphere at Pebble was just amazing, the spectators had a real treat especially with the course being set up the way that it was. The greens at Pebble Beach are a lot smaller and firmer than they were at Torrey Pines which made for a very exciting event indeed, and great of course that Graeme McDowell, another European, grabbed his first major victory.
I was very happy with the way I played during the event for... MORE »
Preparing for Pebble
Posted: 9th June 2010
After playing in the BMW PGA Championship, defending my Madrid Masters title and Celtic Manor, I can say that I made all three cuts and that was about it! I played pretty well and was happy with my game but I managed to throw in a bad round in each event which didn’t help my finishing positions.
I’m now in Washington DC where I’m staying with old college friend John Scott. We played Congressional yesterday which was fun and the rest of the time I’ll be practising, playing and going to the gym in preparation for the US Open next week at Pebble Beach.
I’m not over familiar with the course at Pebble but have seen it on television on a few... MORE »
Beaten by the Weather
Posted: 18th May 2010
Since my last blog I’ve been a bit weather beaten to say the very least. At the Ballantine’s Championship it poured with rain and I ended up playing quite nicely for 36 holes on the Friday with a disappointing final few holes and then struggled again on the Sunday. After a good week in China the previous week, it was definitely not what I was hoping for.
I then went to Italy where I had a missed cut – that was another miserable week with rain pouring down for the whole time.
I’ve been doing a lot of practising and working very hard with my coach Steve Blacklee who is here with me at Wentworth this week. I’ve also been catching up... MORE »

Hi everyone, it’s been a while..... but I’m back now!
Since Doral I’ve had four weeks off and spent most of the time in Dubai where I’ve been practising in the sunshine! I also went to the Dubai World Cup horse racing which was great fun – and I even backed a winner! Chubby gave me a tip about a horse called Musir, one of Mike de Kock’s horses, which came in first so it was a pretty good day.
My coach, Steve Blacklee, came over to Dubai for a week and we put in some good practice time at various courses around Dubai.
My good friend, John Rattan came over to Dubai who was my room-mate at the University of Tennessee, it... MORE »
Enjoying The USA

I had a great time at the WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship and in the first round I had a great match against Steve Stricker when I played well and came out on top after holing a 30 foot putt on the 19th. In round two I played Ryo Ishikawa – we both played well, started off fairly average down that tough opening stretch and he holed a couple of putts whereas I missed a few chances. It was a bit unfortunate to go out in the second round and I’m looking forward to going back there next year. The course was fantastic – it’s so important to hit the ball well from tee to green and on the... MORE »
Thanks Tiger

Well, it’s now official that I’m in the 64 man field for the WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona. I had to wait until last night to find out if Tiger Woods had committed to play in the event and luckily for me he didn’t! This will be the first World Golf Championship event I’ve played in and I’m really looking forward to it – and as the field stands at the moment I shall be pitting my wits against Steve Stricker in the first round and I can’t wait for the challenge. Everyone I’ve spoken to tells me that the course at Dove Mountain is just amazing and hopefully it will live up to my expectations.

New Year - New Equipment
Posted: 20th January 2010
After playing in the Ernie Els Invitational down at Fancourt in South Africa I returned home on Christmas Eve and then spent a lovely Christmas Day with my parents, sister and grandad.
Following the festivites on Christmas Day myself and some friends decided that we'd go to the sale at Selfridges in Oxford Street on Boxing Day which was seriously good fun even though it was a bit crowded to say the least. In fact when my mum and sister heard we were going they decided to get in on the act as well so it turned into a bit of a family outing. I managed to bag a few bargains and stocked up on some new shirts (easy to try on... MORE »
My First Blog .....
Posted: 17th December 2009
Hello to everyone who’s reading this – my first blog on my new website which I hope you’ll enjoy having a look round. I shall be endeavouring to do a blog every few weeks to keep you as informed and as up to date as possible.
I’m really pleased with my 2009 season and played well in the Johnnie Walker in Perth where I finished second early in the year. I had a pretty poor summer and struggled with a few injuries which are now all sorted out. I then played well from the Omega European Masters in Switzerland and had four top sixes to finish the year and made it into the top twelve in the European Tour Race to... MORE »
