Regulation 'iz' Key
Posted: 19th April 2010
Hi everyone, it’s been a while..... but I’m back now!
Since Doral I’ve had four weeks off and spent most of the time in Dubai where I’ve been practising in the sunshine! I also went to the Dubai World Cup horse racing which was great fun – and I even backed a winner! Chubby gave me a tip about a horse called Musir, one of Mike de Kock’s horses, which came in first so it was a pretty good day.
My coach, Steve Blacklee, came over to Dubai for a week and we put in some good practice time at various courses around Dubai.
My good friend, John Rattan came over to Dubai who was my room-mate at the University of Tennessee, it was the first time he’d left the USA so it was good to catch up with him. He’s a pro in the USA who plays on the mini tours so we played six times in Dubai and naturally we’re both highly competitive so it was great practice.
So I arrived in China for the Volvo China Open in pretty good form and I finished in a tie for 8th. My game was in good shape, although I did struggle a little on the greens. There’s always an element of doubt on how you’re going to perform after a four week break so I’m pretty pleased with the result especially as I had a local caddy on the bag. My full time caddy, Matt, was unable to be with me due to a family bereavement, so I’d like to send him and his family my condolences.
I led the Greens in Regulation in Doral which I was quite proud of – although I finished 30th in the tournament – it really showed signs that things were going in the right direction. I was 3rd in the Greens in Regulation in China last week so it’s good to carrying that statistic forwards. I’m playing the new Callaway iz golf ball which I started using in Doral so I’m playing from tee to green very nicely with the new ammunition and once I get the new Odyssey White Ice No 5 putter singing I’ll hopefully be capturing some more titles.
I’ve now arrived in Korea, where it is currently pouring down with rain and rather windy so I’m hoping the weather clears before Thursday. I’ve never played here before so it’ll be a new course for me but I’m coming into the event with lots of confidence on the back of last week and can’t wait to get started.
